The system consists of a hardware component that can be attached to all the prominent VR headsets available in the market in current times and a VR application that needs to be installed in the VR headset through the VR application store. The software helps the VR headset to recognize the TotalVR device and sets up the data transfer protocol which is invoked by the specific applications. The device needs to be plugged into the Type C USB port and it powers on with the VR headset.
The application can request the operating system to read the Heart rate and Breathing rate. The middleware in the app communicates with the firmware and sets the necessary communication channel for initiating data transfer.
Based on the data received from the VR headset, the application triggers specific events. Example event: If a person gets too scared of heights during an Acrophobia treatment using exposure therapy, then the application can sense that using the heart rate and breathing rate and decrease the height or play a piece of calming music.
A dashboard in the installed TotalVR app shows the sensor readings in a readable format for reference.
